Women's Health Fair in La Morita, Baja California

We can use a little help from the amateur radio community this Saturday, March 5.

Casa San Eugenio will be holding a free health clinic in the La Morita settlement, east of Tijuana, Saturday morning. "Flying Samaritan" volunteers from Tijuana, Carlsbad, Camp Pendleton, and the Orange County/L.A. area will be assisting the handful of local physicians.

There are only a couple of HAMs involved in this project and we would like to monitor/coordinate the travel of the volunteers from El Florido to La Morita as well as possible. The road is a difficult dirt trail that takes many turns and it is easy for newcomers to become disoriented, or mired in mud.

Mexican HAM operators are needed to assist at the health clinic. It would be great to have Mexican operators at the Casa San Eugenio dispensary, as well as at the beginning of the road into La Morita from the paved road. Any assistance by norteamericano operators in the States would be appreciated.

There are roughly 50 American volunteers who will be crossing the border Friday night and Saturday to help us at La Morita. A capability to pass health and welfare/logistic traffic to the San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles regions, as well as between La Morita/El Florido/ and Tijuana is required. Email me at patrick_mullen @ yahoo dot com, or post at comment on this Weblog, if you can help out.
